The building was projected by architect Vincenzo Micheli (1895), and is the scenic backdrop of Piazza della Repubblica. Plans began in 1883 with the destruction of the Old Market and the Jewish Ghetto. The building is characterised by the large arch and the decorations on the facades. Over the years the ground floor has been used for commercial activities and the upper floors used for offices.
The project involves a complete restoration of the top five floors which includes the arch of the building, known as “dell’Arcone”, with the construction of 24 new residential units.
